This workshop will highlight NAMI NH's launch of its NAMI Next Gen NH Group (NNG), an initiative focused on engaging and empowering emerging mental health advocates. Designed to build both confidence and capacity, the program demonstrates how intentional structure, access, and opportunity can create a strong and sustainable advocacy pipeline.

Participants will learn how NAMI NH supported NNG members in developing foundational knowledge and advocacy skills, equipping them to speak effectively about mental health and represent the organization with confidence. The workshop will also explore the importance of providing meaningful networking opportunities which interactions foster mentorship, strengthened understanding of the organization's mission, and helped members feel valued and included.

A key component of the program was creating opportunities for active participation. NNG members engaged in a range of advocacy and outreach efforts, including public-facing events, presentations, and community engagement activities. These experiences allowed participants to practice their skills, build visibility, and deepen their commitment to the work.

The workshop will also touch on the importance of building a sense of team among participants. By fostering collaboration, shared purpose, and consistent engagement, NAMI NH cultivated a supportive environment that encouraged growth and sustained involvement. Clearly defined expectations and milestones to provide a roadmap to success and how success is defined!

Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of how to develop and nurture a next-generation advocacy group within their own organizations, using strategies that prioritize connection, learning, and meaningful engagement.
